Serious Flooding in Kerr County – Multiple Deaths Reported
The Kerr County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that several people have died due to severe flooding in the county.
Residents living near the Guadalupe River are urged to immediately move to higher ground. The city of Kerrville made this announcement earlier today and has declared a state of disaster because of the widespread flooding.
The sheriff's office says the entire county is very busy with emergency efforts. They are telling everyone to stay home and not try to travel. If you are close to creeks, streams, or the Guadalupe River, you should move to a safer, higher place right away.
Between five and ten inches of rain fell early Friday morning in Kerr and Kendall counties. This heavy rain was caused by slow-moving and intense storms.
Help for Displaced Residents
For families separated by the floods, a reunification center has been set up at Ingram Elementary School, located at 125 Brave Run W, Ingram, TX 78025.
For Kerrville residents who need shelter, an emergency shelter has been opened at the First United Methodist Church, located at 321 Thompson Drive in Kerrville. This part of Thompson Drive is still accessible
Cancellations and Closures
The city had to cancel its yearly "4th on the River" celebration.
All entrances to Louise Hays Park and Kerrville-Schreiner Park are now closed.
Kerrville-Schreiner Park is also currently evacuating people from its mini-cabins.
The Center Point Bridge in Kerrville is flooded by the Guadalupe River.

The following low-water crossings are closed:
Francisco Lemos
G Street
Schreiner Street at Town Creek
All crossings on Town Creek
Bear Creek Bridge
Roads Reopening
Some parts of Water Street that were closed due to flooding are now reopening as the water goes down.
All crossings on Quinlan Creek are open.
No other street flooding problems have been reported at this time.
